• Workers Compensation

The Mississippi Workers Compensation program was established  to protect employees who are injured on the job. Whether an injury is caused by the injured party's own negligence, by another employee's negligence or by someone else does not matter in determining whether or not an employee is covered by workers compensation insurance. It is necessary that the employee be injured in the course and scope of their employment for the employee to be covered for workers compensation. Only employers with 5 or more employees must carry workers compensation insurance in Mississippi. However, a number of employers with less than 5 employees will still have workers compensation insurance to protect their employees. Even if an employee's employer does not have workers compensation coverage, there are still ways for an injured employee to receive compensation for his injuries.
